...but then you go on to mention `Alt-X > direct Unicode toggle` (which does
nothing but produce a `dagger` glyph), `Special Characters…` (which isn't a
shortcut away) and the yet-unfinished Emoji toolbar. I'm sure that these three
items (regardless of present functionality) require dev effort as well, if not
more. The request at hand (plus the pop-up letter example you cited as well as
the yet-unmentioned `Search` immediately under the `Help` menu) is *automatic*
in the macOS XCode toolkit.

All this reinventing of the wheel for what? In any case, thank you for your
time.
