Bug ID: 141471
Summary: When using in Windows Explorer > New > Word-Document
(*.docx) the correct file header is not added with
loss of text fields
Product: LibreOffice
Version: 7.0.5.2 release
Hardware: All
OS: Windows (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: medium
Component: Writer
Assignee: libreoffice-bugs at lists.freedesktop.org
Reporter: guido at vitalite.de
Description:
Version 7.0.5.2 (x64)
The file created by Explorer seems to be saved as docx by LO Writer but
contains only the text which was outside of the text field - without any
warning you have a severe data loss. The text field disappeared.
Steps to Reproduce:
In Windows Explorer select New > Word-Document (*.docx)
LO Writer opens the file.
Add some lines.
Add a text field with some lines.
Save the file
close LO Writer and open it again
Open the saved file
See that text field and its content disappeared.
Actual Results:
The text field and its content disappeared
Expected Results:
Complete document is shown
Reproducible: Always
User Profile Reset: No
Additional Info:
Findings:
The file created by Explorer is an empty file. After editing LO Writer SEEMS to
save a docx file but saves a text format file only - and cuts off the content
in text field. Without any warning you have severe data loss.
In my case I applied intensive formatting in the text field, printed it out and
the result was fine. When I opened the document again next day, the main
content was gone. Data loss is always a severe bug.
If you use in Windows Explorer > New > Open-Document Text you get an 8 kB file
which behaves correctly as odt file.
