Thanks. This is exactly what is happening to me, with one expection:

"So it is normal to see the style "Good" becoming "ConditionalStyle_3" - but
that's only the name: the font color and background color is retained and works
fine after opening in Excel too."

To me, after opening and closing the file a few times, or waiting a few days,
the "ConditionalStyle_N" styles are reset to default and I lose the formatting.

Regardless, I will save all in .ods from now on.
