I also had this problem, some parts of LibreOffice had very small text fonts;
small fonts, and failures to export the file to PDF.

I use Lubuntu 20.04 LTS, and in relation to the characters, I was unable to
change the size in any configuration, neither the LO nor the system itself ..
yet, the export to PDF was generating almost blank files, with only a few
splashed elements in some corners;

For previous reasons (document rendering failures - or something like that), I
realized that the problem was in a specific package, what I did then was to
exclude the package "libreoffice-qt5", which was the source of the errors;
after that, the text characters returned to normal size and the PDF files were
successfully generated;

Too bad there are these problems in this package, because the look that this
qt5 brings to the software is very elegant, and when you delete it, the look of
it is not as beautiful as before ..
