            Bug ID: 141955
Summary: Dire kerning with default font, on Linux
           Product: LibreOffice
           Version: 6.4.7.2 release
          Hardware: x86-64 (AMD64)
                OS: Linux (All)
            Status: UNCONFIRMED
          Severity: normal
          Priority: medium
         Component: Writer
          Assignee: libreoffice-bugs at lists.freedesktop.org
          Reporter: nicholas_j at posteo.net

Description:
With the default font, on a barely altered template and indeed an instance of
LibreOffice in which I have changed fairly few settings, sometimes the kerning
is diabolical. See the screenshot that I will attach.

Steps to Reproduce:
Uncertain. As my screenshot shows, the problem affects only some instances of
the relevant letters.

Actual Results:
See screenshot and specifically the second line and within that line the gap
between the 'p' and the 'a' in the word 'grandparent'.

Expected Results:
I expect - in the normative sense (this is what should happen) and the
predictive sense (I imagine that it would happen) - kerning that was not as
disastrously, distractingly bad as it actually was. You can't have a word
processor that does this. It's completely deal-breaking.

Reproducible: Sometimes

User Profile Reset: No

Additional Info:
PS: The text on this page about adding an attachment 'once the bug is filled'
makes little sense - it is either bad English for 'when you have filled in the
fields above' or else 'filed' is meant.

I do not have OpenGL enabled. Er, I think. This webpage should tell the user
where to look for that setting. I can find an 'Open *C*L' setting . .
