I can't reproduce if I set QT_SCALE_FACTOR=2 (to somewhat "simulate HiDPI")
either.

What does 'env | grep QT' print for you?

Is the behaviour the same if you use the qt5 instead of kf5 VCL plugin, i.e.
start LibreOffice like this: "SAL_USE_VCLPLUGIN=qt5 soffice --calc"
