Good morning,
Spellcheck does not spot two spaces in English and now I've tried it with a
Spanish text in a Writer file and the result is the same.
As soon as I got your email (in December 2020) recommending that I install your
latest version, I tried to download 6.4.7.
I got the error message "The item LO is in use," even though I had no file
open.
I wrote LO and Italo Vignoli answered me on December 22, 2020:
"Unfortunately, the origins of that message can be many.
"Please check with the suggestions provided by this MacWorld article:
https://www.macworld.com/article/3339676/how-to-delete-a-file-that-macos-says-is-in-use.html
"If it doesn't work, there is a large list of potential answers here:
https://www.google.com/search?q=libreoffice+installation+can%27t+be+completed+because+the+item+is+in+use+site:ask.libreoffice.org&sxsrf=ALeKk01gybXCHLONiO4p36AdM910C_ySfg:1608650538080&sa=X&ved=2ahUKEwja846f8uHtAhUPuaQKHWX7BncQrQIoBHoECAEQBQ"
(end of his email).
All the instructions were too complicated and not even easily understood. Mind
you, I'm no idiot (four graduate degrees + 55 years of publishing in
professional journals -- just not in computer science) and I was sure that I
would mess things up, maybe even disable my Mac, if I tried.
So I'm living with the limitations of 6.0.7.3. There are bigger problems in
life right now for someone my age.
I got the same error message just now when trying to download 7.0.4.
