The text tearing issue is worse than I originally thought, as that minor
blurring, tearing, or skewing of text seems to cause eye strain (in much the
same way you get headaches and feel inexplicably fatigued when you need glasses
because things are slightly out-of-focus). In my case, I have been having
occasional, sharp, stabbing eye pain in either eye or, more often, long-term
“eye-ache”. This might not be due so much to the actual problem as it is the
constant scrolling of text to try to narrow down the cause of the problem
causing a vertigo-type reaction. In either case, my terrible eye-pains have
gone away after a week of not using LibreOffice Writer. Additionally, I may
have observed an occurrence of the text tearing issue with LibreOffice Calc,
but I was too fast on the mouse button and had already selected another page
after that momentary glimpse of the tearing. Also, I happened upon a government
PDF file that looks as if it were composed using LibreOffice Writer because I
saw what looked to be the same tearing issue.

Interesting that none of the web pages that I copied into word processor
documents seem to ever exhibit the text tearing issue. The text portion of
these webpages are in the Normal (Web) style, but that is apparently not a
style option to select from with LibreOffice Writer.
