I'm kind of with you on that.. I have similar experience related to typing
/hello/ or *hello* in Writer. Where the auto-correct kicking in, while the user
being left clueless..

So surely able to extend that to this topic.

Didn't realize this. But you do have point here, IMHO. Fighting against
auto-correct is even more annoying compared to the fight with spell checker.

The Dutch replacement table has nearly non-entry's (by default); except for
some smileys. There are empty ones (swedish) or and those similar to German.

The only way out I see is general configuration panel, for setting up
LibreOffice including those settings. Which a propagate already related to
markdown auto-replacement. And turning off auto-replace by default (or leaving
it on, but only for bare minimum (read smiley's).

Limiting the scope of this topic to "dass" or "daß" probably not gonna make it;
my estimation..

FWIW: I surely need a few companions to get the auto-replacement feature
disabled by default (and a kind of global settings menu for commonly used
features'. Which by others seen as (huge) annoyance. Or resulting lovely
surprises

Changing long term behaviour kind of thing, though. As being assumed/pretended
that such a proposal equals to bending/tailoring the application to personal
needs and taste. And my opinion, your opinion is not proof of majority of
people desiring this (say disabling auto-replacement). Which is landing in kind
of impasse.
And the same time you will maybe encounter a group who will defend this to the
bone. This might including arguments below the belt (but maybe also matter of
interpretation). And written language sometimes tricky. Quite a source for
misunderstanding.
