You are confusing things. That is not what that option is supposed to do. What
the option is meant for is to let the decimal separator *key* on a *numeric
keyboard* produce the character that is used as decimal separator in the
current locale, even if it is labelled differently. It never made accept input
a different character as the defined decimal separator.
