Bug ID: 142621
Summary: LibreOffice 7.1.3.2 - Digital Signature bug with
install version
Product: LibreOffice
Version: 7.1.3.2 release
Hardware: All
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: medium
Component: Writer
Assignee: libreoffice-bugs at lists.freedesktop.org
Reporter: cmartel at plan-a.earth
Description:
Hi,
I was using LO6 and wanted to try LO7 as I could not get digital signatures to
work on LO6. So I downloaded and installed LO7 appimage. Wonderful! Digital
signatures work like a charm, using Seahorse as a certificate manager. But the
current version of LO7 appimage does not setup the necessary requirements for
file extension recognition. So when I uninstalled LO6, if I double clicked a
.ods or .odt file the appimage does not start so you have to start it manually
first and then open up the files from the appimage running. So then I
installed the regular version for Ubuntu 64 bit. All works just as well except
digital signatures. When you select Digital Signatures, Digital Signatures and
it opens the window, the "Start Certificate Manager" button generates an error
window with the message : "Could not find any certificate manager."
In my test, I run the appimage version and digitally sign a document to make
sure all is working. Then I close the appimage and launch the LO7 installed
version and try to do the same and get the above mentioned message.
Surely an easy fix ?
Cheers,
Christian
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Create and install a digital certificate using Seahorse.
2. Test using the latest appimage version of LO7, it should work.
3. Try to do same with latest installable version of LO7.
Actual Results:
Works with appimage of LO 7.1.3.2
Does not work with installable version of LO 7.1.3.2, this version does not see
the certificae manager Seahorse is running.
Expected Results:
as described
Reproducible: Always
User Profile Reset: No
Additional Info:
The installable version of LO 7.1.3.2 should work as well as the appimage. Now
I'm running Ubuntu 20.04.2 with kernel 5.4.0-73-generic x86_64 and Mate 1.24.0;
so in conclusion there's something in the appimage version, a dependency, that
is not identified and required for the installable version.
