It could be beneficial for users who are not experts on the intricacies of the
PDF format that LibreOffice can indeed export PDF/A-1a for simple documents.
This is not clear at the moment. 

Also just now there is quite some confusion since the export dialog says
PDF/A-1b and the docs say PDF/A-1a. At least that could become clearer.
