Thanks for reporting, but this is not a bug, but an intentional choice by
developers -- by default the lowercase Greek symbols in Math are always italic,
see https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=136251#c1 for more
details.

You can use "nitalic{ %beta }" to force a non-italic form, or set the
"GreekCharStyle" variable to 0 in expert configuration.
