It seems that you are correct; I am still unable to repro.

Could someone who is able to reproduce this, use one of the methods to generate
a minidump from the "hung" process [1] [2], and attach it here? It would allow
to open the dump in a debugger, and maybe see the call stack that could allow
to suggest a blind fix.
