Indeed. Freon should not be a spelling error. And indeed. it is not.
However "freon" IS a spelling error. And that is how it is used in the
document.

Google says,
"Should Freon be capitalized?
You'll notice that Freon is capitalized because it is trademarked by our
friendly scientists from Dupont."
