In the past I have extracted photos and audio clips from email that an family member sent me to make a memorial web page after they had passed away. They were images and mp3s inserted into a Word doc. If Word used lossy compression like people are suggesting we use, the end result would have be far worse. The more I think about it the worse this idea sounds. Compressing and resizing belongs on the final, publishing/exporting step. This is how all other Office suites function. This is how our Impress presentation currently functions.
