<pre>Personally, I think this is a WONTFIX. I work a lot with master documents and I
never needed such a behavior. Quite the contrary, the auto-update mechanism in
MSO Word is horrible because it destroys every manual changes and other fine
adjustments in TOCs of sub-documents and master documents when opening the
file.
An extra option (suggested in <a href="show_bug.cgi?id=34121#c3">comment 3</a>) in the dialog window when opening a
master document would be ideal and a compromise, but is it really necessary?</pre>
