I'm a big user of LibreOffice, and my life would be vastly improved by a tabbed interface! It's there in Textmaker and WP Office, neither of which are as good as LO, so it's possible. I work on one document, but have others loaded for reference, so splitting the windows onscreen isn't appropriate. Switching between windows is much slower and much less efficient.
