I just checked in Word 2013, and there is an option to add a "Custom mark"
symbol before the footnote number.

There is no option in Word 2013 to add a custom symbol after the number, so
'Footnotes/Endnotes Settings -> After' is a LibreOffice-specific feature.
I think it's normal to not be able to export this setting to DOCX.
