<pre>I have found one cause of this problem. When LibreOffice Calc is used with
Linux mint 18.1 and KDE 5.8.7, the overwrite only happens if the System > Font
settings are set to force font DPI to greater than 96 points. At 96 points the
cells behave themselves perfectly.</pre>
