I believe I have solved the problem. I had created the original file in 5.3.3
with 5 columns in ODT format. Several persons requested a copy so I converted
to the RTF format since I wasn't sure they could open an ODT file and then
emailed this RTF file to them. The file I opened in 5.3.4 that changed from 5
columns to 1 column was this RTF file not an ODT file. I went back to an older
file with 5 columns that was in the ODT format and it opened correctly in
5.3.4. So the problem was in opening an RTF file in 5.3.4 that was created in
5.3.3. I apologize for not noticing this.
I had saved the original 5.3.3 RTF file in 5.3.4 with 5 columns so the original
5.3.3 RTF file isn't available to send you. I am a retiree and have been
keeping a list of those retirees who have deceased. This is an ever changing
list and I should be working and saving in the ODT format in the future -- only
changing to RTF temporarily to send to others. I guess that I should ask the
other people if the RTF files are opening OK in their word processors.
