Problem occurs when the background of a Picture e.g. JPEG is removed with GIMP,
by using "Colour to Alpha" which is translated in German as "Colour to
transparence". If you use that function and export the picture as an PNG File
without a background it seems to work. I used my scanned signature that way
with Microsoft Word (at work) for years. But you have delete the background
explicitly in Gimp to make it work as desired. It's been my fault, but I wanted
only to help, by reporting that bug
