Thanks for the detailed report.

The error message with Java9 could be, as has occurred in the past, a known
version recognition problem.



Could I ask you to try and install a Java 8 JDK from Oracle to see whether that
is recognized ? If it is, then that would hint at a recurrence within our code
of a Java version number recognition problem.
