If I have understood the discussion well, the compatibility with standards and
other software is a problem.

But if we limit the solution to two cases:
- printing
- exporting to PDF
(which is entirely enough for me)

then the compatibility problem disappears, as LO can develop a proprietary
solution and encode this character in some way for the export only.</pre>
