You were right. The problem was a corrupt user profile.
Sorry to be the retard guy who ignored the instructions about corrupt user
profile.
I thought "What does inserting a row have to do with my user profile" but
clearly I know nothing about the user profile.
And I didn't realize how easy it was to reset the user profile to factory
settings. Next time Calc so much as farts I will reset the user profile.
