<pre>I think the values that the XML saving/parsing code considers are the default
(which I'm pretty sure is a global hard-coded thing, not taken from the
per-driver xcu config file!) are not saved explicitly in the XML stream; the
attribute is just omitted.
That's the source of my suggestion in <a href="show_bug.cgi?id=121092#c25">comment 25</a>. My theory is that this
interacts somewhat with "per driver" defaults in the xcu files in a way that
does not quite work as intended.</pre>
