Additional NEEDINFO bits:
1. What was that "an error" that installer encountered after the status is
blank after it says "Updating component registration"? Please post the error
message.
2. Please see FAQ [1], section "Create an installation log"; and create and
attach a log of the failed installation, which hopefully would make finding the
error easier.
3. Please provide Windows 7 version information - is SP1 installed? I have seen
situations when SP1 was actually not installed, but "faked" using some hacks
like registry tweaks that magically turned Windows into thinking that it's SP1;
note that that is not a supported configuration.
