It will take some more testing but the answer seems to arrived just in time.
LibreOffice 6.2.2.2 is available in the Ubuntu Software Store,
Updated 04/17/2019 as a snap.
** For some reason, I had to uninstall my 6.1 completely for the 6.2.2.2 snap
to successfully install.**
Note: if you have any special dictionaries or templates it will be easier add
them to any upgrade by copying them to a folder for each in the home directory.
Then add paths to them in options > paths after the new install]
My first test was to try Help > LibreOffice Help F-1 which crashed in 6.1 every
time then proceeded to crash while submitting the crash report.
Result: No crash, and local help loaded.
It will be a couple of days before I will know if this fixes the un-predictable
crashes I have been experiencing in this module.
Thanks for the 6.1 snap hint. Couldn't find it, then this updated snap just
appeared.
Here's hoping!
