What input method and mode have you set in IBUS?
I quickly tried "German (German)" with "Direct Input" and "Japanese - Mozc"
with Input Mode "Hiragana", but still couldn't reproduce.
Any other relevant settings (I don't know much about input methods...)?</pre>
