So, the magic switch to make it appear is having 3 objects selected. The wiki article casually mentions that this option may distribute 3 or more objects, but I guess it would be nice to make it explicit that this option does not appear otherwise. That makes sense, given it distributes objects relative to each other, and in a sense just 2 objects are always optimally distributed.
