My use case (engineer writing technical documents). The moment that LO starts
to compress inserted images without my consent or feedback as a default setting
I will instantly rage-quit LO and prevent it's use in my company. Destrutive
saves is exactly what I hate about MS Office (until you find Options ->
Advanced -> Never Compress)
Most sensible, if people really see large documents coupled with non expert
users as being a problem: see that a graphic is "large" (e.g. over 2MB, or more
than 300dpi after the user has rescaled it) - then offer some kind of feedback
to ask the user how they would like to proceed.
Alternatively have a "shrink document" option when saving.
