        <pre>FWIW I'm currently not planning to fix this. My only suggestion w.r.t. UX
tooling is to split "polygon" and "polyline" functionality. So the first will
always close the polygon and the latter never.

There is also the functionality "Close object" in the context menu.
Interestingly I couldn't find a way to "Open" a closed object, eventually by
removing a point.

If you edit the points, you can cut one, and the shape remains closed and the
new line is drawn between the remaining points. If you paste that point now,
you get two polygons overlapping from the old and new shape - interesting,
unexpected result :-)</pre>
