I see, I don't have this problem on Windows.
Can you try setting the environment variable SAL_USE_VCLPLUGIN to gen, like
$ SAL_USE_VCLPLUGIN=gen libreoffice
to force LO to use X11 instead of GTK3, and see if it changes anything?</pre>
