        <pre>I found a workable solution:

Select and copy image from Draw.
in Writer Edit->Paste special
Select "(1) LibreOffice 6.4 Drawing" or "(2) Graphics Device Interface metafile
(GDI)" 

This does the trick!
Selecting (1) will get you an OLE image in a correct frame
Selecting (2) will get you a image in a frame</pre>
