This currently looks like a generic VCL bug in the toolbox code, but I'm not sure. That code needs some larger inspection and probably a bit of refactoring. It also has some buggy code in the KF5 VCL for the scaled button size calculation, introduced by the HiDPI patch, which I missed when reviewing it.
