<pre>Did a bit more research and it looks like the issue may be that the audio
object has it's boundary outside the slide and so Impress is trying to show the
audio object only.

I moved the audio object on the troublesome slides so their boundary was 100%
inside the slide and the audio played perfectly during the slideshow.</pre>
