<pre>That is: let LO forget "locales" completely, leaving such vagaries to the OS
(to whatever extent the OS is so inclined), from which it inherits that
information. Then LO allows the user to set/override date/time/currency/etc
format as needed.
Is that an accurate summary? Besides simplifying for users, that would also
eliminate the maintenance burden of deciding what formatting is "correct" for
any i18n.</pre>
