<pre>We discussed this idea in the design meeting.
Hidden cells are actually zero-sized and it's not just the hidden group but
also many other situations where format, paste, calculation are applied. If A:C
contains 1 and B is hidden, you still get 3 as sum of A:C; if you copy three
cells, it will be pasted in the hidden cells too; and applying a yellow
background after selecting col A:C is also done for B.
Personally I would inform the user when any action affects hidden cells. But
since this particular case was in request we recommend to keep the current
behavior. => WF
Btw, Excel behaves exactly the same and familiarity for users who want to
change is prime.</pre>
