<pre>FWIW: not sure what the proper approach would be. GDI will reach EOL. So more
at the level of MacOS. There is some talk about moving to Skia; not sure how
realistic actually is. But of course waste of time to look into this is Skia
will be implemented anyhow
No clue if other (Linux) backends are affected too.</pre>
