If the Chart is created in Writer, there are no problems (first 2 charts in attached file); if chart is created in calc and pasted into writer, then it is not possible to replace categories later in writer, if initially in calc document they are in column, e.g. A1 to A6 (3rd to 4th chart), but they can be changed if categories are in row in calc, e.g. A1:E1.
