<pre>I second Christian's suggestion of multiple rows. That seems like a very
commonsensical fix which maintains visibility of the controls while providing a
lot more flexibility in the sidebar's width.
In my opinion this is a serious layout issue. If I were to start using LO today
(instead of around a decade ago, counting OpenOffice), it's the kind of problem
that could turn me off to Writer right away and send me back to MS Office.</pre>
