I don't know if this helps you or makes sense for you, but maybe you can try a
Linux live iso using an USB stick to test if LibreOffice freezes/doesn't run.
I used PCLinuxOS, installed on an SSD and I didn't get any freeze for
LibreOffice.</pre>
