<pre>Description:
When the needed drive is not conneected, LO's message states a problem that's a
consequence of not having the drive, but it obfuscates the earlier problem,
confusing the user.
Steps to Reproduce:
0. I hope I have the steps right. It's risky to rerun.
00. This could harm a file (I think) and maybe LO, so you may not want to do
this STR.
1. Open a LibreOffice Writer nonblank document on a removable storage device.
2. Go to Tools menu > Options > Load/Save > General > Save > Save AutoRecovery
information every . . . minutes. Check that this is on and note the interval.
3. Close the document. Check that it is in LO's Start Center, the right part of
the window, among the thumbnails. Click on the thumbnail to reopen the
document.
4. Spend more than the AutoRecovery interval adding content without manually
saving and then almost immediately disconnect all power to the computer.
5. Wait at least a few seconds and remove the removable storage device.
6. Reconnect power but not the removable storage device.
7. Reboot.
8. Open LO. In LO's Start Center, in the right part of the window, click the
thumbnail.
9. I don't think I'm missing a step, but if I am it would be at this point in
the STR.
10. When LO tries to recover your work, approve doing so.
Actual Results:
This message appears: "Document Could Not Be Locked"/"The lock file could not
be created for exclusive access by LibreOffice, due to missing permission to
create a lock file on that file location or lack of free disk space."/"Open
Read-Only" "Cancel".
Under the circumstances, this message is confusing.
Expected Results:
The message should say,
"<path_to_absent_removable_storage_device>/<document_name>.odt does not
exist."/"OK".
The lock file could not be created on that location and free disk (disc) space
was lacking because the location did not exist at the moment. I had to
reinsert the flash drive (my removable storage device) and then everything
would be okay.
Thus, the message is not technically wrong but, in effect, skips past the
message the user should see to solve the problem.
Reproducible: Didn't try
User Profile Reset: No
Additional Info:
Maybe relevant: <a class="bz_bug_link
bz_status_NEW "
title="NEW - Save to disconnected shared folder is unfriendly, and shows strange errors"
href="show_bug.cgi?id=126062">Bug 126062</a> and <a class="bz_bug_link
bz_status_NEW "
title="NEW - Catalina: Can't open attachments in Mail due to Lock File issues"
href="show_bug.cgi?id=128526">bug 128526</a>.
Resetting the user profile is irrelevant, since the Start Center then would not
have the thumbnail needed for STR.
I don't think I have OpenGL.
Fedora 34 Linux, kept evergreen.
