I totally agree.
My proposal would be to change the interaction first: the "whole width"
checkbox should change the "anchor" control to a different shape, with only
three options (top/middle/bottom), related to vertical alignment, not with 9
anchor points available otherwise. It would already be partly self-documenting.</pre>
