These fix the last (reproducible) email-merge related bug
(https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=36763) that block
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=34184
which itself blocks the most annoying bugs.

a) import ssl doesn't work under windows because libssl.dll (or whatever
it is) got moved around
b) bustage always says "invalid address", show *what* failed if it does
fail
c) fix internal python itself with a backport of
http://bugs.python.org/issue4768
