I think that Bug 44861 is indeed a report about a bug in Regexp use. It is
not an enhancement.

My interpretation of Timur's words is that he recognizes that 44861 is a
known bug and that he suggests to implement the functions of the now
abandoned extension Alternative Find & Replace. Therefore he created a
separate tracker item (Bug 38261) which is indeed an enhancement request.
