It can be tested in under 20 minutes by someone who is a Windows sysadmin
and deploys automatic installs on multiple desktops (and is willing to
suffer the anger of multiple users if their file associations are suddenly
changed :) )

Is it possible that no company is doing this?
They should be the first to complain if it was behaving unexpectedly...
