Sorry (or not ;-) ) for being so silent in this thread. Just one thing:

I really have to support this.
Performance in Calc is one of the issues that makes introduction in 
professional environments difficult.
Making LibreOffice Calc more successful, means taking care too for the 
last 'only' 5 to 10% of the users.

Look forward to the result of the work on the new dialog :-)
