I found the place to patch, and one thing is that it is one value for
both the horizontal and vertical margins; so when I reduce the space to
the left and right, it also reduces at top and bottom. Having said
that, I think it is a good thing ;-) - but want your opinion
nevertheless, see the screenshots:
When you open new Writer, with fresh user settings:

Should it be problematic, I can split the value into 2 (horizontal and
vertical), but I don't think it is really necessary.
