I wonder if there's any (valid) use case here ... maybe someone had
the idea that people would want to watch the stock market in a
spreadsheet? Or that it would be somehow useful for collaboration
(albeit having your changes overwritten by the internet source does
not make much sense)?

... I agree that it _seems_ like clutter.


@Olivier: No, that issue remains still unresolved, because you will
still be able to open documents over the internet. (And because the
underlying functionality for refreshing documents would not go away,
just the UI.)
